Wine Tasting #4: La Doria

This wine was a bit more special (and a switch up from my normal reds). As you can see, the label is not written in any english as it was gifted from Italy for Christmas this past year. I could however, read the grapes were harvested in 2022. With research, I found the cost was about $16.99 and was made in Piedmont, Italy from Cortese grapes. Before bottling, it is aged for about three months and comes from an estate owned vineyards located on the left bank of the Lemme river.

It has a bright yellow color and floral aromas. I could taste green apple, lemon citrus, and was pretty dry for a white wine which I wasn't expecting, maybe even a little sour too. I may have cheated a little and threw a small ice cube in the glass before tasting, so that could've affected it's flavor but I was so eager to try it! In terms of aroma, I could smell more white flowers, maybe even a gardenia? Something light, soft, but fresh and lively.

Reviews from other tastings mention the fresh and dry flavor with notes of pears and citrus fruits with a "nice medium finish of minerals," which I thought was an interesting way to describe it. From Wine Folly (page, 422), Cortese grapes are that of high acidity, and low sweetness, tannin, and body. They are described as being zesty and greatly paired with seafood!
